A national effort to raise money for storm victims in Texas is paying off tonight.

While we kept you informed about hurricane Harvey and what later became tropical storm Harvey, our parent company Sinclair Broadcast Group. kicked off relief efforts raising more than $1 million.

On September 1 just a couple of days after Harvey hit, Sinclair teamed up with the salvation army on a project called 'Standing Strong for Texas.'

Our more than 170 sister TV stations nationwide rallied viewers to contribute to the Salvation Army, with Sinclair contributing $100,000, but the total amount raised by Sinclair viewers, more than $1.4 million.

Today Sinclair's executive team presented a check to local Salvation Army officials. who say the generous donations will be put to 'good use.'

Sinclair also sent news crews from seven of its t-v stations to help the southeast Texas news team cover the storm and its aftermath.
