USA football offensive coordinator relieved of duties
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
University of South Alabama head football coach Joey Jones announced Monday that assistant head coach Bryant Vincent has been relieved of his duties effective immediately.
Vincent was in his third season serving as the Jaguars' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and in his sixth on the USA staff overall.
"Sunday afternoon Coach Vincent came to me and expressed concern about our current status and what is best for our program moving forward. After meeting with him, a decision was made to relieve him of his duties," said Jones. "Bryant is a great friend and has always had the best interests of our student-athletes in mind. I sincerely appreciate all of his hard work. I wish him the very best."
Offensive Line coach Richard Owens takes over for an offense still trying to find its identity. Jones says extending drives is the highest priority
South will visit Louisiana Tech Saturday at 6 p.m. (CDT) in its final non-conference game of the season, then has a break until travelling to Troy for a Sun Belt Conference match-up on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
