Ladd-Peebles Stadium changes outside water policy

This season the water policy has changed as requested by Ladd-Peebles management. (WPMI)

Ladd-Peebles Stadium will no longer allow outside water bottles inside the stadium effective this season.

This policy will differ from the water policy the stadium previously put into effect in 2014 after fans complained of a shortage of water during South Alabama's record-breaking attendance at the Mississippi State game. In addition to the water shortage, multiple people had to be taken to the hospital due to heat. More than 38,000 people filled the stands for the first time South Alabama hosted an SEC team.

After the shortages during that game, it was announced that fans could bring in two sealed bottles of water per person.

According to an email sent out from South Alabama Athletic Director, Dr. Joel Erdmann, this season that rule has changed as requested by Ladd-Peebles management.

In the email, it is stated that the stadium announced it will no longer allow two bottles of water per person at entry of any contest.

Included was a statement from stadium representatives:

“Fans attending USA games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in 2017 will no longer be allowed to bring up to two bottles of water per person into the stadium as has been the case in recent seasons. To ensure that the demand for water will not surpass supply and to better accommodate fans, Ladd-Peebles Stadium will be offering a wider range of availability of cold water throughout the stadium this year. These include special water-only sales purchase points that will be set up in multiple locations, and drinking fountains which will now be located on each of the stadium’s concourse areas so that fans will also have access to water free of charge during games.”

The stadium has also implemented a clear bag policy that was announced last month.
