Jags baseball routs Auburn
AUBURN, Ala. – Freshman Christian Camacho allowed one run in four-plus innings in his first career start, but Auburn baseball fell 14-3 to South Alabama in seven innings due to rain Tuesday at Plainsman Park.
Camacho struck out two and scattered three hits as he pitched into the fifth, but was lifted after allowing a home run and issuing a walk to start the frame. He allowed two runs and dropped to 0-1 on the season.
Four other relievers saw action for the Tigers (9-4) including Grant Warner and Joe Gahm making their Auburn debuts.
Daniel Robert walked in the sixth inning to extend his reached-base streak to 28 games dating back to 2016. Dylan Ingram had a run-scoring single in the frame for his team-best 12th RBI. Josh Anthony added a 2-RBI double and finished with two hits.
South Alabama improved to 7-5. Starter Andy Arguelles (1-0) pitched six innings and allowed three runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Travis Swaggerty led the Jags with four hits and four RBI. Eddie Paparella homered and drove in five.
Auburn continues midweek home action on Wednesday with Kennesaw State at 3 pm.
South Alabama travels to Mississippi State Friday.
