Alabama men’s golf closes regular season at Clemson Invitational
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men’s golf team will conclude the regular season schedule when it participates in the second annual Clemson Invitational, held Friday through Sunday, April 7-9. The event, which will be the third tournament in as many weeks for the Crimson Tide, will be played The Cliffs at Keowee Falls – a par 72, 7,103-yard course located in Salem, S.C.
Alabama, who is ranked No. 38 in the nation in Golfstat.com’s team rankings, will look to carry momentum from three consecutive top-five finishes entering this weekend’s tournament. The Crimson Tide will use the same lineup that finished second at last weekend’s Mason Rudolph Championship.
Junior Lee Hodges, who enters the event ranked No. 59 in the nation by the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, will play at the top spot for the Tide. Hodges has four top-10 finishes over his last five tournaments played and has scored par or better in 14 of his last 15 rounds. The Ardmore, Tenn., native has shot in the 60s in seven of his last nine rounds overall, on his way to leading the team in stroke average (71.14) and ranking second in average vs. par (-0.14).
Sophomore Davis Riley, who is ranked as the 73rd-best golfer in the nation by Golfweek, has been playing well as of late with consecutive top-10 finishes entering this weekend’s event. He is third on the team in stroke average (71.33) and average vs. par (0.20).
Junior Johnathan Hardee will be playing the third spot for the Tide. In his four spring tournaments played, the Greer, S.C., native ranks second on the team with a 71.17 stroke average and leads the team at -0.58 average vs. par. Over the stretch, Hardee has three top-20 finishes.
