MOBILE, Ala. (April 25, 2017) – For the second straight start, Jordan Kipper pitched seven scoreless innings and led the Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Kipper (2-1) threw 98 pitches, 66 strikes, and struck out a season-high six batters. He has now held opponents scoreless in 15 consecutive innings, topping Luis Diaz’s previous team-high scoreless streak of 14 straight frames.

The BayBears (10-9) raced out to an early 3-0 lead with runs in the second, third, and fourth innings off Deck McGuire (1-1). Alberto Triunfel hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot in third. In just seven games with the BayBears, Triunfel has already surpassed his home run total from 2016.

Eric Karch and Alex Klonowski kept the Blue Wahoos (13-6) off the board in the eighth and ninth, respectively, to preserve the shutout, the second of the season for Mobile. Karch increased his scoreless innings streak to 11 2/3, while Klonowski notched his first save since July 20, 2014.

The BayBears have tied their season-high with three straight wins by handing Pensacola three consecutive losses for the first time this year. Mobile also clinched its second straight series victory with Tuesday’s win, making it the first time an opponent has won a series against the first-place Blue Wahoos.

The BayBears wrap up the five-game home series Wednesday at 11:05 a.m. against Pensacola. Right-hander Parker Bridwell (0-0, 0.00 ERA) is slated to make the start against righty Austin Ross (1-0, 0.86 ERA) for the Blue Wahoos. Live coverage can be seen on MiLB.tv and heard on the BayBears Broadcast Network, the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App, with the Countdown to First Pitch starting at 10:45 a.m.
