UPDATE: Bodies of missing teen, preteen in Orange Beach recovered from Gulf of Mexico

The bodies of the two missing boys in Orange Beach were recovered Saturday morning.

According to Orange Beach's Lt. Steve Brown, the two brothers from the Baton Rouge. La. area were recovered from the Gulf of Mexico.

The 12-year-old's body was found at approximately 6 a.m. Saturday morning and was found east of where the boys went missing.

The 19-year-old body was recovered shortly after between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. by divers after being located.

According to Brown, the family checked into Orange Beach around 5 p.m. and went to the beach. Officials received the call that the boys were missing after entering rough surf around 7 p.m.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the two swimmers in this difficult time,” said Lt. Cmdr. Trevor Blount, search and rescue mission coordinator at Sector Mobile. “We appreciate all the support provided by our state, local and industry partners in the search effort.”

Involved in the search were:

• Coast Guard Cutter Kingfisher

• Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew

• Orange Beach Fire and Rescue boatcrew

• Orange Beach Police Department boatcrew

• Baldwin County Sheriff Department personal watercraft

ORIGINAL STORY:

Orange Beach Police and Fire Department are investigating two missing persons in the waters of Gulf of Mexico.

A 12-year-old and 19-year-old were last seen in the water of Perdido Beach.

According to the Coast Guard, they were last seen at 7:15 p.m. approximately 20 yards from shore.

The two were in town visiting family and had just arrived to the area.

This is an ongoing investigation and will be updated when we learn more.
