Family members identify man killed in hit-and-run on I-10
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) -- A hit-and-run on I-10 that killed a man on Saturday morning has been identified by family members as Paul Phipps, a 36-year-old man from Florida.
Phipps' brother, Glenn Guinand, confirmed that his brother was the victim in the early morning accident.
"I'm still heartbroken," Guiand said. "I can't believe he's gone."
Phipps, originally from North Carolina, was a corrections officer at the Northwest Florida Reception Center in the Department of Corrections.
Phipp's aunt, Judy Mullen, said that he had found his calling as a corrections officer.
"He was well liked by everyone he knew," she said. "He really had found his calling. He also loved Batman - that was his thing."
Police are still searching for the two vehicles - a white Tahoe and a 18-wheeler - who were involved in the accident and left the scene.
