Body found at Dixie Landing in Baldwin Co. believed to be missing woman
LITTLE RIVER, Ala. (WPMI) —
Investigators may have a lead in the case of a missing Washington County woman.
Fishermen found a body at Dixie Landing along the Alabama River Friday afternoon. Clarke County Sheriff Ray Norris says the clothing matches what Anita Bowman was believed to be wearing when she was last seen.
Washington County Sheriff Richard Stringer confirms to Local 15 news a body has been recovered in the Dixie Landing area of Baldwin County and is believed to be that of a woman who has been missing since late February.
Sheriff Stringer says he spoke with Clarke County Sheriff Ray Norris who has been jointly investigating the case with Washington County. Sheriff Stringer says at this point “there is no indication of foul play”
The body has been sent to the department of forensic sciences to determine a positive identification.
Boman’s car was found on March 4th, 20 miles upriver from Dixie Landing in Clarke County.
Anita “Nita” Bowman has been missing since February 6th.
Local 15 has a crew en route to the scene.
