Alabama's first charter school will be in Mobile
Mobile Ala. (WPMI) —
The state's very first charter school is set to open soon in Mobile, Alabama.
Charter schools receive state and federal funding so they are tuition free and they have more flexibility with hiring, scheduling and curriculum than traditional public or private schools.
Open enrollment for Accel Day and Evening Academy is available through May 1.
The school is only accepting 300 students to keep the class sizes small with a focus on individualized instruction.
Schools like this have to meet the same graduation requirements as in regular schools but charter schools get to build their own curriculum.
