Alabama's first charter school launches in Mobile County
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
On Thursday September 20, the Mobile Area Education Foundation (MAEF) was approved by the Alabama Public Charter School Commission to open Alabama's first charter school. Today, MAEF announced ACCEL Day and Evening Academy (ACCEL).
ACCEL is Alabama's first tuition-free public charter school to serve high school students (grades 9-12) from Baldwin, Mobile and Washington counties. ACCEL's mission is to "provide a challenging, college-preparatory, curriculum, individualized instruction, small class sizes, and an engagin use of technology."
