There are some new Jaguars in town. More than 1,200 freshmen into their new homes on South Alabama's campus.

While moving to college is exciting for many students, there were many mixed emotions as parents moved in their new college students.

"It's hear-wrenching and exciting," one parent told Local 15. "It's a lot of mixed emotions, both ways."

It wasn't just parents and new freshmen buzzing around campus, hundreds of South Alabama students and employees helped to unload suitcases, boxes and supplies from packed vehicles. Volunteers then helped the newest residents carry their belongings and find their rooms.

In all, more than 2,300 students live on-campus at South, as returning residential students moved in earlier this week.

The first day of fall semester classes at South Alabama is Wednesday.
